Demosmith Alternatives: The Short Answer

Demosmith is our product, so weigh this page with that in mind. People still ask us what else they should look at, and for several jobs the honest answer is another tool.

Demosmith is an AI demo agent. You give it a URL and describe the flow. An agent then drives your live web app in a cloud browser and records it. From that one run you get an edited, narrated demo video, an interactive demo and a document export. If that is not what you need, use one of these instead:

  • Help-centre articles, SOPs and training: Vidocu, or Scribe and Guidde.
  • Your own face on screen, or an avatar-led video with no product footage: Glimeo, Synthesia or HeyGen.
  • One personalised video per prospect, wired into your CRM: PuppyDog.
  • Recordings you already have, or a desktop or mobile app: Clueso or Trupeer.
  • A tour that buyers click through on your website: Arcade, Supademo, Navattic or Storylane.
  • Demo environments for an enterprise sales team: Walnut or Demostack.
  • A quick video of you talking over your screen: Loom.

The rest of the page explains each pick, what it costs and where it beats Demosmith. It also covers what Demosmith does not do, so you can rule us out quickly if you need to.

What Demosmith Does, and What It Does Not

You paste a product URL and describe the flow in plain English, for example "sign up, create a project, invite a teammate". The agent drives the live product, fills forms, records the session and edits it. You get back an MP4 with voiceover, captions, zooms and your brand kit. The same run also gives you a click-through interactive demo with step-by-step analytics, and a Docusmith export in Markdown, HTML, plain text or PDF. Voiceover and captions come in 31 languages.

Demosmith demo page with Video, Interactive Demo and Document tabs, showing a published interactive demo
One run, three tabs: the video, the interactive demo and the document.

When a flow hits a two-factor screen, a sign-in prompt or a choice only you can make, the agent pauses and asks you mid-run, up to three times per run. It uses each code once and never stores it.

What Demosmith Does Not Do

  • Web apps only. The agent needs a public URL. It cannot record a desktop or mobile app, and localhost and private networks are blocked. A staging site works if it is reachable from the internet.
  • No upload of your own footage. Every video starts from an agent run. You cannot hand Demosmith an old recording to polish.
  • No API, webhooks or MCP. Every demo starts in the app. You cannot trigger one from a script or a release pipeline.
  • No per-contact personalisation. There are no merge fields and no CRM sync. Analytics are anonymous: you see views and drop-off, not who watched.
  • No hosted help centre. Docusmith exports files that you paste into your own docs site.
  • No live Q&A. A video or an interactive demo cannot answer a buyer's question in real time.
  • No free plan. You get a 3-day trial with one demo and no card. After that, plans start at $40 a month, or $33 a month billed yearly.

Captchas and locked accounts also still need a person. If any item on that list rules us out, jump to the section for your job below.

If You Want Docs and Help-Centre Articles First: Vidocu

Vidocu

Vidocu is the closest tool to Demosmith in how it captures, and far apart in what it produces. Its AI Recorder drives a real browser from a written brief, much as our agent does. It also accepts footage you already have: old screen recordings, PDFs and slide decks.

The output is documentation. A run becomes a help article with step screenshots, an SOP, subtitles, a quiz or a short course. A Knowledge Center add-on ($100 a month) hosts it on your own domain. Vidocu also ships a REST API, webhooks and an MCP server on every plan, and its site lists 70+ languages.

Use it when docs are the deliverable, you need an API, or you want to reuse recordings. Pricing: a free plan with 200 one-time credits (no AI Recorder), then Starter at $19 a month, or $13 billed yearly. We cover the details in Demosmith vs Vidocu.

Scribe

Scribe watches you work through a browser extension and turns your clicks into a written step-by-step guide with screenshots. The main output is a written guide rather than a narrated demo video, and for internal process docs that is often all you need. Pricing: a free Basic plan, then Pro Personal at $35 a seat a month, or $25 billed yearly. See our Scribe alternatives for more.

Guidde

Guidde turns a how-to you record into a step-by-step video with an AI voice. It suits support and training libraries with lots of short videos. You still do the clicking yourself. Pricing: a free plan, then Pro at $29 a creator a month, or $19 billed yearly. More in our Guidde alternatives post.

If You Want Your Own Face or a Full-Frame Avatar: Glimeo, Synthesia, HeyGen

First, an update. Demosmith now has an AI presenter who narrates the demo from a corner of the video. You choose from six presenters, pick the corner and one of three sizes, and the presenter speaks 28 languages. It comes with every paid plan from Starter up. If you want a presenter talking viewers through your product, Demosmith covers it.

The tools below suit two other jobs: a presenter built from your own photo or footage, and an avatar that leads the whole video with no product capture at all.

Glimeo

Glimeo is the other close match. It captures your product in a real browser, shows you the plan before it renders, and adds voiceover and an optional presenter. Starter ($29 a month, or $290 a year) gives you 15 demos, 5 of them with a presenter. A presenter made from your own picture starts on Pro at $79 a month, for 2 of its 50 demos. The free plan allows one demo of up to a minute, at 720p, with a watermark.

Use it when you want a presenter made from your own photo on an agent-recorded demo, or a cheaper starting plan. Glimeo's pricing page lists video demos only, with no interactive demo or document export. Read Demosmith vs Glimeo for the full comparison.

Synthesia

Synthesia turns a script into a video led by an AI avatar. It is built for training, internal comms and explainers, and its site lists 140+ languages. It does not capture your product. If the video needs product footage, you record it yourself and add it. Pricing: a free plan with 10 minutes of video a month and a watermark, then Starter at $29 a month, or $18 billed yearly. See our Synthesia alternatives.

HeyGen

HeyGen makes avatar videos and translates existing video with lip-sync. It suits explainers and localised clips. Like Synthesia, it works from a script and your own media, not from your live product. Pricing: a free plan with 3 videos a month, then Creator at $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly. More in our HeyGen alternatives post.

If You Send One Personalised Video per Prospect: PuppyDog

Outbound and account-based teams often want a different video for every account: their logo, their use case, sometimes their name spoken aloud. Demosmith does not do this. Any one-off prospect video you make in Demosmith is a separate run, made by hand.

PuppyDog is built for it. You bring the footage, such as a screen recording, screenshots or a doc. Its AI then researches each account and swaps in the right use case, the logo and a spoken intro with the prospect's name. The Pro plan connects to HubSpot, Instantly, SmartLead, Clay and Slack, so view time goes back to your CRM. Enterprise adds Salesforce, Marketo and Outreach, plus 50+ languages. Custom voices and presenters are on every plan, free included.

Use it when one video per contact, tracked in your CRM, is the whole point. Pricing: a free plan with 1,000 credits, then Pro at $49 a user a month, or $42 billed yearly. PuppyDog says a typical 2-minute video uses about 500 credits. We compare the two in Demosmith vs PuppyDog.

If You Already Have Recordings: Clueso, Trupeer

Demosmith cannot take a file. If you have a back catalogue of screen recordings, a desktop or mobile product, or you would rather do the clicking yourself, these tools polish what you record.

Clueso

Clueso takes a recording from its browser extension, an uploaded video, a mobile recording, a slide deck or a PDF. AI rewrites the script, adds a voiceover, visual effects and captions, and writes a step-by-step article from the same recording. An MCP server is on every plan, and its Enterprise plan lists agents that record and update videos. Pricing: a free plan with 10 minutes of exports a month, then Solo at $40 a month billed yearly. See our Clueso alternatives.

Trupeer

Trupeer works the same way: record with the extension or upload a video, and get back a polished video and a document. It lists 100+ languages and accents, and an MCP server from its Scale plan ($249 a month). Pricing: free for 10 days, then Pro at $49 a month, or $40 billed yearly. More in our Trupeer alternatives post.

If Buyers Should Click Through the Product: Arcade, Supademo, Navattic, Storylane

Demosmith builds an interactive demo from the same run as the video. Viewers click through screens captured during the recording, not a copy of your HTML. If you want HTML capture you can edit, lead forms in the tour, demo hubs, or a tour builder your whole marketing team works in, an interactive demo tool fits better.

Our guide to interactive demos vs video demos covers when each format works.

Arcade

Arcade makes click-through tours for websites and launches, with AI voiceovers, some AI video, an API and an MCP server. Pricing: a free plan with one published demo and one published video, then Growth at $50 a seat a month, or $42.50 billed yearly. See Demosmith vs Arcade.

Supademo

Supademo is the low-cost pick, with demos shared as links, embeds, video or PDF. HTML cloning starts on its Business plan. It also sells AI demo agents that talk to buyers live, billed by credits. That is the one job on this page where Demosmith has no answer at all: a live conversation. Pricing: a free plan with 5 guided demos, then Scale at $50 a creator a month, or $38 billed yearly. See Demosmith vs Supademo.

Navattic

Navattic captures your product's HTML for tours on the marketing site and connects them to lead-gen tools. Its pricing page does not show a price for paid plans and says they are billed annually. Navattic's own blog puts its Base plan at $500 a month with 5 seats. Pricing: a free plan with one demo, then pricing on request. See Demosmith vs Navattic.

Storylane

Storylane combines interactive demos with demo hubs and lead capture, plus HubSpot and Zapier integrations. Pricing: a free plan with one demo, then Starter at $50 a month, or $40 billed yearly. See Demosmith vs Storylane.

If You Run Enterprise Sales Demos: Walnut, Demostack

Sales engineers running live calls need something different: a safe copy of the product they can click around in, with data set up for each deal. Demosmith makes recorded demos. It does not build demo environments.

Walnut

Walnut builds interactive and sandbox demos, playlists and deal rooms, with a Salesforce app for sales teams. Pricing: from $575 a month billed annually, with 3 editor and 3 presenter seats. There is no free plan. See Demosmith vs Walnut.

Demostack

Demostack clones your product's front end into a separate demo environment, so reps can swap names and data for each deal without touching production. Pricing: on request. See Demosmith vs Demostack.

If You Just Need a Quick Personal Video: Loom

Sometimes the job is a two-minute video for one customer, with your face in the corner and your voice explaining the fix. Loom does that well, and Demosmith would be overkill. Pricing: a free Starter plan with 25 videos of up to 5 minutes, then Business at $18 a user a month, with up to 17% off on annual billing. See Demosmith vs Loom.

If you want to record yourself but with a more polished finish, our comparison of Screen Studio, Tella, FocuSee and Descript covers the main options.

When Demosmith Is the Right Choice

Of the tools on this page, Vidocu and Glimeo are the two that, like Demosmith, send an agent to drive your live product on their standard paid plans. Clueso lists recording agents on its Enterprise plan only. The rest start from a recording, a script or a capture that you make. Demosmith fits when:

  • Nobody wants to record the demo. You paste a URL, describe the flow, and the agent does the clicking.
  • The output has to sell. You need a cut, narrated, branded video for a landing page, a sales email or a launch post.
  • You want the tour and the doc too. The interactive demo and the Docusmith export come from the same run, with no second capture.
  • You sell in several languages. One run, re-voiced in 31 languages.
  • Your flows sit behind real logins. The agent asks for the two-factor code instead of failing at that screen.
  • Your UI changes often. You run the same URL and prompt again instead of re-recording by hand.
  • You want a presenter over the product. Six AI presenters come with every paid plan.

For a wider look at the category, our roundup of the best AI demo video generators compares the main tools side by side.

Use Demosmith when nobody wants to record the demo. Use something else when the recording already exists, or when the job is not a demo.

Key Takeaways

  1. Demosmith drives your live web app from a URL and a prompt, and returns a narrated video, an interactive demo and a document from one run.
  2. It has no API, no footage upload, no per-contact personalisation, no hosted help centre, no live Q&A and no free plan. It works on web apps only.
  3. Vidocu and Glimeo are the closest alternatives, because each also uses an agent to record your product.
  4. Pick Vidocu, Scribe or Guidde for docs; Glimeo, Synthesia or HeyGen for your own face or an avatar-led video; PuppyDog for one video per prospect; Clueso or Trupeer for recordings you already have.
  5. Pick Arcade, Supademo, Navattic or Storylane for click-through website tours, Walnut or Demostack for enterprise sales environments, and Loom for a quick personal video.

How We Picked These Tools

We started from the tools that AI assistants name when asked about Demosmith alternatives, and from the pages that rank in search for our name. Then we grouped them by job. A ranked list of sixteen tools would hide that most of them do a different job from Demosmith.

Some software directories file Demosmith under general AI video generators and list tools like Canva as alternatives. Those tools make good videos, but they do not capture your product, so we left them out.

Every price comes from the vendor's own pricing page on October 12, 2026. Navattic and Demostack do not publish paid prices, so we say so. Prices change, so check the vendor's page before you buy.

Disclosure: Demosmith is our product. We have done our best to describe each alternative fairly and accurately, based on each vendor's own website and our own evaluation, and to be plain about what Demosmith does not do. If something here is out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
